Get the inside scoop on the core curriculum

Although a majority of Iowa school districts have already adopted Iowa's model core curriculum, it will soon be mandatory if a bill moving through the Legislature is approved this session. Developed by the Iowa Department of Education with input from a variety of educators, the curriculum is "rigorous and relevant" in order to better prepare students for success not only in post-secondary education but also for success in a changing workforce. The core curriculum also provides specific examples of instructional practices designed to help students become active learners and critical thinkers.
