ISEA provided us with the following information related to the distribution of the TQ money for 2008-09.The payments from the State to the school districts will remain the same as in the current law. They will begin in October and end in June. The new law only deals with the distribution of money from the school district to teachers. It was designed to require the distribution of TQ money starting in October and stretching for the remainder of the pay periods in the teacher’s contract.
The intent of the law was to require payment through the end of the teacher’s contract (August). It is legal to extend the payment by starting earlier than October, if the district is willing.
