Many of the members of SWUU and LC will join in the protest on the attack on our rights, I have found myself singing lyrics from this song. Those who forget history are damned to relive it. Let's hope that as educated folks, we learned our history well.

House Study Bill 117--AIMED AT LIMITING COLLECTIVE BARGAINING & AFFECTING YOUR INSURANCE RATES AND TAKE HOME PAY--is no longer a study bill and has been renamed House File 525.
The good news is the bill is shorter. The bad news is the proposed law is still is bad.

Join hundreds of educators and other public employees from across the state at a rally at 5 p.m. on Monday, March 7 inside the Capitol, to show your support for public employee's collective bargaining rights! House File 525 (formerly HSB 117) is a bill that proposes to take away hard-won bargaining rights. A copy of the flier for the rally was placed in your work room by your building reps and another is attached.
The public hearing on HF 525 will be held Monday, March 7 from 6 - 8:15 p.m. in the Iowa House of Representatives chamber. We will be taking at least one car load of folks down to Des Moines after school on Monday. We have room for two more in our car.
Submit written testimony!
If you can't attend the rally, submit written testimony explaining to Legislators how HF525 will affect your school, your students, and your family. Let your
Legislators know they need to say:
- NO to making it illegal to bargain health benefits!
- NO to taking away our right to bargain layoffs and staff reductions!
- NO to throwing out a time-tested arbitration process!
- NO to permitting some workers to cut their own deal with the boss behind closed doors!
